Hiking

Hiking

When we think of the mountains, we inevitably think of skiing. But after ? On the hike! Many hiking and cycling trails are laid out in the mountains to allow you to admire the peaks while breathing the pure mountain air without having to wear a ski suit that is too hot.

A dip in high altitude lakes

A dip in high altitude lakes

Although the mountains are often relatively far from the beaches, it is still possible to find places to swim in peace that strongly resemble beaches! I am thinking, for example, of certain high-altitude lakes bordered by fine sand and where it is therefore permitted to take a few dives and cool off.

Golf

Golf

No, this is not a joke. The mountain can also be the perfect place to play a game of golf (on the other hand hello stress to find the ball). Clear skies, large green plains, mountain peaks in the background… Perfect for this sport!

Paragliding and/or hang gliding

Paragliding and/or hang gliding

Extreme sport level, in the mountains, it’s not just skiing! Especially when the weather is clear, taking a hang-gliding or paragliding trip between the mountain passes must be an invigorating and impressive experience with extraordinary mountain views.  Some schools will accompany you for a breathtaking first flight.

Rafting and canyoning

Thrills are not what is missing in the mountains! A few gorges where more or less calm rivers flow, miniature canyons and you’re done. Of course, you have to have a strong stomach and be equipped by professionals before embarking on it, but the result is often very enjoyable.

Climbing on via ferrata

Climbing on via ferrata

There is a superb one in Courchevel , it would be a shame to miss it if you are a thrill seeker. Equipped with cables, carabiners and other ladders, you will follow a route that offers superb viewing angles and a certain adrenaline rush. Be careful not to have your hands too sweaty.

Here again, an activity very focused on thrills… But that everyone can practice. Monkey bridges, zip lines, climbing along the trees, etc. There is something for all levels and for all ages. Some courses, such as the one at Les Orres, offers courses from 4 years old!

The summer toboggan run

The summer toboggan run

We often forget that there are still different ways to indulge in the pleasures of skiing in the mountains, even in summer! This is particularly the case thanks to summer toboggans. The Mont-Dore (Massif Central) offers some, and the least we can say is that it looks as fun as sliding on snow!
